The fact that Southern careen gods Lynyrd Skynyrd derived their cognomen from their heights school gymnasium teacher, Leonard Skinner, makes it appear only natural that longtime drummer Artimus Pyle mightiness someday have his name vitiated and appropriated by another band such as Atlanta, GA's Artimus Pyledriver. Formed in 2001 by vocalist Dave Slocum and guitar player Jimmy Hall -- both veterans of various local sludge and hard-core bands -- Artimus Pyledriver picked up steam with the arrival of second guitar player Damon Goldsmith, bassist Michael Faulkner, and drummer Travis Owen, and embarked upon regional touring with like-minded subway system hard rock bands such as Mastodon, Suplecs, and Dixie Witch. Thus their fan base began to grow, and among them was former Coal Chamber, and so DevilDriver vocalizer Dez Fafara, world Health Organization recommended Artimus Pyledriver to DRT Records, which released the band's eponymous debut in 2006.

Liza Minnelli - Minnelli Hopes For Arrested Development Film Cameo

Veteran singer/actress LIZA MINNELLI has sparked rumours she will reprise her role in the forthcoming movie adaptation of U.S. TV series ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT - because she is in no mood to retire.

Plans for the movie version of the cancelled TV sitcom were confirmed earlier this year (Feb08) following a meeting between star Jason Bateman and series creator Mitch Hurwirz in late 2007.

And the 62-year-old star, who played character Lucille on six episodes of the show, has confirmed to the New York Daily News she would sign on for the movie version of television series if she was asked to participate.

She muses, "Why would I retire? I love what I do."

Family keep Amy in hospital

AMY WINEHOUSE could be in hospital for weeks after relatives vowed to do
whatever it takes to make her quit drugs.

The Rehab singer, 24, has an irregular heartbeat after she collapsed at home
on Monday.

Her family hope it may be the wake-up call she needs.

They have also talked about sectioning her if she tries to leave the London
clinic where doctors are trying to wean her off heroin.

Overdose

Dad Mitch, 57, said yesterday: "Amy is doing fine. She is staying in as long
as possible."

A source added: "She’ll be in there for a while if her family get their way.

"There is a feeling they can have a good crack at sorting her out this time."

The star, who has also battled crack addiction, had a massive overdose last
summer — said to be linked to her collapse.

SUN Doctor Carol Cooper said: "Crack narrows blood vessels and raises
pressure. It is toxic to the heart muscle, causing an irregular beat.

"A heart attack is one of the most common ways for the drug to kill. But if
Amy’s lucky, she’ll feel much better in 48 hours."

Billy Ray Cyrus Champions Daughter Miley's Major Success

Country star Billy Ray Cyrus insists his teen star daughter Miley Ray Cyrus will continue on the path to stardom despite her recent controversies - because it's the nature of Hollywood. The father/daughter duo, who star on Disney's Hannah Montana, have turned the 15-year-old into a money-making machine - and the Hannah Montana star will be worth as much as $1 billion (?500 million) by her 18th birthday, according to publisher Conde Nast. And despite outrage from family groups and parents prompted by Miley's controversial photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine - where she appeared topless, wrapped in just a satin bedsheet earlier this year - her father insists the harsh criticism is expected along with any major success. The Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker also adds he's not afraid by his daughter's marketability because she is happy with her burgeoning career despite recent hiccups. He says, "For every action, there's an opposite and equal reaction and for every high, there's a low. That's just the way life is. She has a dream. She loves what she does for a living. "(Miley) loves acting and she loves making music. And she gets the best of both worlds with this job."

Toby Keith fundraiser brings in $709,000

NORMAN, Okla. —

Toby Keith's annual fundraiser for families of children with cancer raised $709,000 this year.

The money goes to Ally's House, a charity started after original band member Scott Webb's 2-year-old daughter, Allison, died of kidney cancer in 2003. The charity provides for families' needs, such as prescriptions, rent or mortgage payments, utilities and gasoline and hopes to eventually build a center near an Oklahoma City hospital to provide lodging.

Five years of private concerts, auctions and golf tournaments have raised more than $2.3 million.

About 750 celebrities and guests attended the private concert, party and auction earlier this month. Two dinners with Keith sold for $35,000 apiece, and a chance to ride on the boat named Northwestern from Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" fetched $27,500.

The opportunity to be in one of the 46-year-old singer-songwriter's music videos brought in a donation of $25,000.

Combining Latin and African rhythms with the light textures of MOR jazz, Special EFX emerged as one of the to the highest degree large domain nuclear fusion reaction groups of their eRA. Formed in New York in 1982, Special EFX was essentially a duet comprised of guitarist Chieli Minucci and Hungarian-born drummer/percussionist George Jinda; debuting in 1985 with the album Modern Manners, they often recruited early musicians to help flesh out their state of the art sound, among them Dave Grusin, Omar Hakim, and McCoy Tyner. Long favoring an accessible and slick jazz-pop sound, the duo significantly altered their identity with 1990's Just now Like Magic, adopting a more acoustic texture and exchanging Jinda's electronic percussion section for what he dubbed "wooden domain music." After 1995's Body Language, Minucci and Jinda split up, with the latter chronic to work under the Special EFX list; in early 1997, however, tragedy struck when Jinda -- having lately realised the album Here to Stay -- suffered a monumental stroke, after reverting into a coma. After several age of identical poor health, Jinda passed away in New York on January 11, 2001.
